Patrick Russell named VP for academic affairs

Patrick Russell, Ph.D., has been named vice president for academic affairs and academic dean at Sacred Heart School of Theology.

A seven-year veteran of the SHST Scripture Studies Department, Russell is a widely published theologian. He his perhaps best know for his work in parish-based adult faith formation, and for his 2007 book, The God Questions: What Forms and Shapes Us (Ligouri).

He received his Ph.D. from Marquette University in 1996.

Russell is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association and the Society of Biblical Literature, and he is an Ignatian Associate. He recently returned from an archeological dig at the Bethsaida site in Israel.

He replaces Fr. Raúl Gómez, SDS, who served on the SHST faculty for 24 years. Gómez has taken a leadership position with the Association of Theological Schools.
